Student vocabulary:

‘Singlish’ in the Classroom

Throughout the course students will collect a vocabulary which should be formatted into columns on the computer. This will have two sections (or more if desirable)

Verbs, with both the present and past forms, should be separated from other words . Other words can be separated too into adjectives, nouns etc. There is also a need to separate dialect words and words which are used in spoken English but not in written form. There should also be a place for abbreviations.

This vocabulary should be maintained year on year and students can share. However, the main aim is to create a basic stock of words which they can learn. Naturally the emphasis will be on the more common words.
